Design To Inspire 411

"Today is the first day of the rest of your life"...

We all have heard that saying. Today is the first day of of my blogging experience.

You may ask... who is this woman?
I, Robin Denker am a real-life kitchen and bath designer, a real life boutique showroom owner, a real-life Mom of two - now 20 something daughters, a former food writer, a former test kitchen director (who really knows how to cook), a transplant to California since 1979; a Chicago native (who loves Chicago Pizza, hot dogs and of course, Michigan Avenue). I went to college in Florida and design school at F.I.T. in Manhattan then traded blizzards and hurricanes for some earth-shaking design experience here in Los Angeles. I met my fiance in 2003 while designing his kitchen (and now, of course I do more than his kitchen).

We recently
adopted and rescued an adorable Malti-Poo poochie who we affectionately call Kadi, who comes to the showroom with me every day.

I work on homes from 500,000 to five million+, my clients call me "The Design Lady 411" (full of information), my contractors call me "The Gentle Tiger" (they probably call me something else too?) My clients love me because I have a passion for what I do and never take the easy route, my contractor's love me (most-of-the-time) because I spell out the details and I mean S P E L L them out. Seriously - - - I love colored chalk sticks and blue tape to draw out what I mean on walls, floors and even on ceilings. Yes, they follow the dots and then some.

I want to share with you my 30+ years of design experience (thank goodness for Clairol because I do not have any gray hairs to show for it). The trials and tribulations of a 'real-life' kitchen and bath designer - the school of hard-knocks and I have lived and love to tell about it.

I find the world a fascinating place for design inspiration. If you find something that inspires you, I would love to hear about it.
I will introduce you to new products, new innovative ideas and some tried and tested ideas with lots and lots of diversity. I will guide you through the ups and downs, the ins and outs and the "Oy Veys" of kitchen and bath remodeling without any of the dust. I want to be your trusted on-line kitchen design resource where I present you with real problems with real solutions.

Thank you for checking out my KITCHENS BY DESIGN BLOG. I look forward to hearing from you. If you are in the Westlake Village area, I personally invite you to stop in for a cappuccino and talk kitchens with me. If you are local, and are in the deciding process for a new kitchen or bath stop, in for a seed of inspiration and to say hi to me and Kadi.
